Heal Rooney!
Oh my goodness. I just opened my email program of choice - Thunderbird - to catch an email from World Cup News Blog reader Shean. He send me a link that points to a crazy site. We all know the stuff. Rooney is injured, we all hope he´s gonna make it to the World Cup, but if you take a look at this site you might understand why some people get sick of all the Rooney talk. You have to virtually “touch” his foot to help its fasten up its healing. Guys!

No commentsKick it like Rooney
Wayne does it again. “Huh” I hear you say “Isn´t hasn´t he been injured for week?”. Yes he has but as the BBC reports he stepped it up a little bit. With the aim to be fit for the World Cup he started participating in running and ball training in England´s training camp. I´d like to call that good news. Overall he seems to make good progress but don´t get your hopes up too high it would be a much bigger disappointment if he can´t make it. The next scan will be Wednesday next week, 2 days before the opening match.

No commentsSanta Cruz fit for the World Cup
Contrary to predicted before Paraguay star-striker Roque Santa Cruz will be ready to face England on June 10 in the group phase of next weeks World Cup. He is said to recover from his knee injury in time and therefore it´s very likely that he will actually play says coach Anibal Ruiz. I like Santa Cruz but I won´t say I´m a fan. What makes me happy tough is that another injury played out well because I´m getting sick of all the damn injury news. Speaking of injuries. If you haven´t done so already make sure to vote on the current poll the next one will be up within the day.

No comments“Sheva” to Chelsea
It´s official Ukraine star Andrej Shevchenko moves from Milan to London to fulfill his 4-year contract with Premier League Champion Chelsea.
I am here for the challenge and the excitement of playing in the Premier League,
the 29-year-old is quoted on the official World Cup site. Well this doesn´t surprise me that much once again Chelsea is on a buying-spree first contracting Ballack and now “Sheva”. Now they both now who to play for next season and all the concentration can be focused on next week´s World Cup (next week!!).

No commentsEdmilson to miss the World Cup
Brazil and Barcelona midfielder Edmilson had to be ruled out of the World Cup squad due to an injury to his right knee. Yesterday´s scan revealed that he would not be able to play any role in Germany. Not being able to support Brazil is definitely a blow for Edmilson who was one of the major players this year to help Barcelona to win the Champions League. He will be replaced by Mineiro of Sao Paulo. And even worse Gilberto Silva who played for Arsenal against Barcelona in the Paris final, may take his spot.

No comments“Here I am” - Theo Walcott
Yesterday a young guy named Theo Walcott wrote his name into the history books of english football with his being replacement for Michael Owen up from the 65th minute. England won 3-1 in their friendly against Hungary but that´s not the point. Number 23 - Theo Walcott is what this game was actually about. He´ll be the youngest player of this year´s World Cup and he might become number 2 overall after Ireland´s Norman Whiteside who appeared in Spain 1982.

No commentsRooney scan set to be earlier
The next scan on Wayne Rooney fitness has been moved forward in order to give Sven-Goran Eriksson the best chance to replace him in the World Cup squad on June 9 which would be the deadline. The BBC has a video from a news conference with the England coach you might wanna check that out. There have been a lot of controversy news lately so it´s kinda hard to take a guess wheter he will be able to play in Germany or not.

No commentsMessi likely to miss opening match
Argentina star-striker Lionel Messi is likely to miss their opening match on June 10 against Ivory Coast. The 18 year-old was injured during Barcelona´s Champions League Match against Chelsea back in March.
I don’t think I’ll be in the team. I haven’t played much, I’ve been out of action for some time,
So the World Cup is obviously likely to miss another youngster. Damn.

No commentsNo Rooney in group phase
Yesterdays Wayne Rooney scan has revealed that the England striker might not be fit in time for the Group phase of next month´s World Cup. This sure is a blow for coach Sven-Goran Eriksson and England given that Rooney was supposed to show up in the 2nd game against Trinidad and Tobago on June 15. Read more
Ballack slightly injured
German captain Michael Ballack suffered from a minor injury during a practice game against Servette Geneva’s under-18 team. The BBC reports that he slightly sprained his left foot, but there is no way that he could miss the World Cup. Germany won the game 12-0 while coach Klinsmann was able to use 20 of his 23-man World Cup squad. That obviously shows it can happen to anyone at any time. Once we´re done with all the injury talk we might be able to enjoy watching some World Cup games.
