Zidane wins the Golden Ball
France captain Zinedine Zidane was named the most valuable player of this year´s World Cup. He can´t make up for what he did to Marco Materazzi but considering his play during the finals of the World Cup he was the most outstanding player for me as well.
The other possible Golden Ball Winners were:
Maniche (Portugal), Michael Ballack (Germany), Gianluca Zambrotta (Italy), Thierry Henry (France), Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Patrick Vieira (France) and Miroslav Klose (Germany).
Before the World Cup I was hoping Zidane might shine once again and he even surpassed my imagination. He showed us that age isn´t always the main thing to matter when it comes down to someone playing decent football. It´s great I really admire him for what he was and obviously still is able to do with the ball. Let´s face it France would not have been in the final if it wasn´t for Zidane to break e.g. Brazil.
Thanks Zizou, for a great career. We´ll never forget you.

i was crying when Zidane got the red card..

I’m disgusted by all the outside pressure on the World Cup. How can Zidane be the best player after an aggression of this type?
How can the english and french press attack the portuguese players as aggressive, unfair, liars even, and then their national players behave much worse?
The campaign against Portugal was grosse, filthy, but as Portugal is small, and doesn’t have the influence of the big players (France, England, Germany, Italy), nobody cares. It’s a SHAME!!
Cristiano Ronaldo, the best young player by far, lost the prize, because of lack of “fair play” and being a role model for the young players.
Maybe ZIDANE is a good ROLE MODEL!?!?!

he deserves the golden ball for what he did for every games he played in during the world cup, not for one incident during the last match, though it wasn’t showing much sportsmanship to do what he did. For C.Ronaldo’s lack of fair play that was compiled from not one game but from his total performance overall

cristiano ronaldo doesnt even deserve anything. all he does is fall on the ball by himself without anyone touching him. zidane’s aim in the game is to play good with his team mates. hes never a ball hog at any time. just admit it and face the fact. zidane is a legend. period.
