World Cup Day 22 recap or “We did it”
Oh my goodness you wouldn´t believe what´s going on in Germany as we´re now in the semi-finals of “our” World Cup. Yesterday after the match against Argentina the streets were full of people celebrating our first win against a “Big” team in the last 5 years. It was a real great game where anyone could see that there were two equal teams playing. I must say I was close to a few heart attacks during the game tough. Read more
Photo of the day - World Cup Day 22

My photo of the day. Jens Lehmann saving the final penalty of Esteban Cambiasso’s. I must say I was suprised that our german players did so well in the penalty shootout. 4 penalties shot very well. Good work.

Well, today we have another pair of Quarter-Finals with two top notch games. France will play against Brazil and Portugal will face England in the first match of the game. I am really excited about these games because with Zidane and Figo two of my favorite players are probably playing their last game. I was just wondering if Brazil will give a better performance than before. We´ll see. As always I give you my bets for todays games. Read more
World Cup day 23 recap or Oh my goodness
Oh my goodness. Brazil is out of the World Cup as I was slightly predicting and France has its hero back. Zinedine Zidane showed once again what he is still able to do. Great, I loved watching him doing his special trick (you know which one I mean) again leaving two Brazilians behind. Just lovely to watch this genious play. By the way I just ordered a Zidane 2006 Jersey woohoo. The other Quarter-Final was England against Portugal which was also the quarter-final of the European Championships two years back and as before Portugal´s Ricardo was the man of the match for me saving 3 of England´s penalty shots oh my goodness. New polls please - Brazil dropped out of the World Cup
Our last poll was aiming on how far the defending World Cup champion Brazil might advance this year. Yesterday, we learned that the quarter-finals are the stage of the drop out of the champions therefore we need a new poll and now we´re getting back to what the question was about. I just name the new question who´ll win the World Cup. But before that I owe you the results of the last vote. Firstly, let me thank everybody that has voted in any of the polls here at World Cup News Blog before. Read more
Are you kidding Italy?
Ok, if I should name one team that has not earned its place among the last 4 teams in the World Cup I´d definitely say Italy. Not only has the “Azzuri” not shown the shining football of the pre World Cup phase - no! Now they´re hunting down Torsten Frings who might have hit an Argentinian player after being attacked himself. What would you be doing if some crazy freak hits you in the face? That´s just perfidious. So please back off or are we questioning any of Italy´s players that might or might not be involved in the Italian scandal? So stay calm and try to play decent football, thanks.

Obviously Jürgen Klinsmann has his hands full with work now that he has to set up a team without Frings as he was suspended for tomorrows semi-final against Italy by the football governing body. I can´t say how much that disappoints me. The Germans get attacked by some stupid Argentinian players that are afraid of losing and now we get one of our best players banned. Good work. Read more
World Cup Day 26 - the semi-finals
We´re now on day 1 of the semi-finals. Tonight Germany and Italy will fight over the first place in this years World Cup Final. Even with Frings banned whole Germany seems to be confident that we´ll make it to the final on Sunday. For one thing Germany does have adequate players on the bench. I guess Borowski will be the Frings-substitute. And we do have a whole nation behind us. You wouldn´t believe what´s going on here. It´s just great and I feel bad that it will be over that soon. No hat-tricks in this year´s World Cup?
I didn´t realize that with now 60 games played and a total of 138 goals we didn´t see a hat-trick so far this year. That´s strange because every World Cup has at least seen one of them. Nevertheless we can keep a little bit of our confidence that we´ll see at least one guy scoring 3 goales because those two players who did so are still in the tournament. 2002 Portugal´s Pauletta and Germany´s Klose each scored 3 goals in a game. Even though that I don´t really believe in a hat-trick in the semi-finals it´s still possible. I just wanted you to know.

No commentsGermany out of the World Cup

I didn´t think that I had to write these lines today but Germany is out of the World Cup after a high-class game against Italy which ended up being a little more cooler as our coach Klinsmann called it. I´m hugely disappointed it really felt like we could make it this year. Read more
