Cisse to miss the World Cup
Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse might be the unluckiest guy out there right now. He broke his leg in France´s last friendly before the World Cup yesterday against China. The 24-year-old was knocked off balance by a defender 10 minutes into the game and fell, his right leg twisting under him and buckling above the ankle says the BBC. This shows it can happen to anyone at any time. I was watching the second half of the game yesterday on Eurosport and the spirit seemed to be gone. Understandable. I hope “Les bleus” are able to recover from this serious blow in time before their opening match next Wednesday. How could you break your leg in the last friendly - unbelievable.

No commentsKlinsmann on top once again
Did you know that almost one third of this year´s World cup coaches have played in a World Cup before as a player? I didn´t and it makes me proud that the first player I ever was a fan of - Jürgen Klinsmann - is the one with best stats. He appeared in 3 World Cup between 1990 and 1998 with one title won, 11 goals scored and 17 matches played. Jürgen you´re the man, hopefully you can add something this year. Read more
Ballack out of opening-match
As predicted earlier german captain Michael Ballack will miss the World Cup opening-match against Costa Rica. Tim Borowski is supposed to play Ballack´s position.
We want him to get back to full fitness so that he can be fit for the other games in the competition.
Klinsmann said today. Well, the opening-match without the captain is a bit annoying but let´s at least hope that he can play against Poland next Wednesday.

No commentsWorld Cup Day 1 has come
I have been holding this photo back for weeks due to, hm I don´t actually know why. But I don´t mind anymore. World Cup Day 1 has come. 1 month of football all over the place starts and I´m really excited and I hope you´re as well. This is kind of an announcement post. I will watch the opening match today on some big screen here in the city. Tomorrow I´m going to Berlin to get the complete spirit and next Thursday I will be in Berlin again to watch the match Sweden vs. Paraguay in stadium. If you have anything on your mind that you would like me to cover during the World Cup please let me know. I´m writing this from the Cafeteria of my University and I´ll attach a photo of how it´s decorated to give you an idea on how the World Cup has hit anyone, well almost. Read more
Rooney fun
The one thing you couldn´t miss yesterday was Wayne Rooney´s scan result revealing that he might be able to play in the World Cup. Here are two funny “photos” of how young Wayne is praised to be back. Read more
2 comments“Sheva” back with World Cup fitness
Ukraine captain Andrej Shevchenko scored in his first game after a month of injury. He seems to have healed out his knee injury and therefore is confident to be ready to play in Ukraine´s first match against Spain next Wednesday. I hope for the best players to appear in the World Cup and “Sheva” is definitely one of those. So this is good news not only for Ukraine but for the World Cup.

No comments3 conclusions: Netherlands first game
1.) Did I mention that Arjen Robben impressed me heavily?
2.) Both Argentina and Netherlands have now their first 3 points in stuck. This group is the most difficult one to advance from in my opinion and therefore a real highlight lies upon us when these teams play against each other on June 21.
3.) Winning this group definitely involves Serbia and Montenegro. Their defense is real strong, once their offense gets a little better they might be able to pull some strings. Argentina needs a 3 pointer against them if they wanna win this group. But Netherlands stays my favorite for this matter.

No commentsGoogle shows live World Cup scores
As sadly as this seems there are people who cannot watch every game. If you have to work and you have internet connection in sight you might wanna check the Google live World Cup scores. Just a small hint in the beginning of day 2.

No commentsHere´s why Germany will win the World Cup
Well, we´re only a little more than 1 hour away from the opening-match Germany vs. Costa Rica and as soon as this post is written I´m off to watch the game on big screen. Make sure to check back frequently for updates though I´ll post photos and news right away - tomorrow even from Berlin. But before we start here´s a little survey why no team needs to play this year because Germany will win the World Cup. You don´t think so? Well you might wanna read on and find out - you won´t regret it. Read more
World Cup opening-match recap
Wow, what a feeling and I have to say I´m a little relieved that our first 3-pointer is here. 4-2 against Costa Rica, my bet was 4-0. I was not expecting the “Ticos” to be that good and our defense to be that weak and wide-open, but ok. It´s the first match and we will get better believe you me. Hm, what else? Well, we might have seen the best goal of the World Cup already. Philipp Lahm scored a wonderful goal from the left-side of the 16 meter box and we saw another wonderful goal from Torsten Frings.
