Anticipating what might be
Wow, what an exciting time to be here in Germany. National flags everywhere and fans cheering all over the place. I love it. With our 3-0 over Ecuador we won Group A and I´m really excited now that the decisive phase is about to start. I thought it might be worth a look what teams might occur on the schedule of the so called World Cup favorites. I guess Germany can be counted as one of them so I just give it a shot. Now that we won Group A we´re facing the 2nd placed team of Group B which is set to be Sweden. Given that they´re still not playing as supposed earlier the quarter-finals are in sight for Germany.
So we´ll play against Sweden in the Round of the last 16. Looking at the performances that have been given by Svenska (one of which I´ve seen live in stadium) so far I must say I don´t regard them to be that much of a problem. I´m sorry if that sounds a little strange but I don´t mean it the arrogant way. But an impartial viewer would agree on that I guess. “Germany is a nightmare” said one of the swedish players yesterday after their 3rd group-match. I´d totally agree on that.
Our possible quarter-final opponent would be the winner of the game Winner Group C against 2nd placed team in Group D which would be either Netherlands / Argentina or Portugal / Mexico. My guess would be that Argentina wins Group C and therefore plays against Mexico in the round of the last 16. Argentina is real strong this year so I guess we might play them in the quarter-finals. This game will decide if we´ll be able to win the Cup. Therefore I´ll stop my predictions for now. Today we´ll know more when Group C & D are done.
