World Cup 2006 News

Uff, so much to catch up with today. Have you heard of the idea to make the World Cup a 2-year-deal? According to the Financial Times some of the influencial guys in Europe are thinking about that. To read the full story you´d have to subscribe over there but I´ve found a bit shorter a version of that text over at the blog of the Washington Post.

Hm, would I like more international high class football every two years? Of course, I do but what would happen to the European Championships that ordinaryly fills up that space? Wouldn´t the standard drop down once we´d have that 2 year rythm? Isn´t the World Cup every 4 years something special - I guess a World Cup every two years would give a lot of the spirit away. Don´t get me wrong I love what the World Cup is all about but some things shouldn´t change. What´s your opinion on that?
