No Rooney in group phase
Yesterdays Wayne Rooney scan has revealed that the England striker might not be fit in time for the Group phase of next month´s World Cup. This sure is a blow for coach Sven-Goran Eriksson and England given that Rooney was supposed to show up in the 2nd game against Trinidad and Tobago on June 15.
The scan revealed that Rooney might not be able to practice for another 3 weeks and there will be another scan on June 14th. Given that England advances that far Rooney might play in the round of the last 16, but don´t get your hopes up. I thought about this scan to be good news, but obviously I was wrong.
Eriksson has to decide by 9 June whether to replace Rooney in the squad. Tough call. Only time can tell.
