Golden Ball revealed
Franz Beckenbauer unveiled the golden match ball which will be used at the World Cup Final on July 9th.
The ball may be round like any other but it is destined for great things.
I don´t really doubt that he´s wrong about that. What I do wonder about is who´s gonna play on that date.

No commentsWorld Cup Commercials
Do you enjoy those current Football Commercials as much as I do? Obviously those Brazilian magicians do not need to practice at all so they have time to shoot ´em like daily. Just kidding. Enjoy. Featuring other heros like Thierry Henry as well.

No commentsTickets on their way
Today, I received an email that the World Cup Tickets for me and two friends of mine are officially on their way. Pretty exciting moment since we were waiting for this email for weeks. I´m sorry for everyone who didn´t get a ticket, though. If there is anything specifically you´d like me to cover please let me know.

No commentsBest Youngster at the World Cup
This year´s World Cup will be the first to hand out a Trophy to the best young player under the age of 21. I was just wondering who might win this category. Any ideas?
Those crazy folks over at the World Cup Blog currently have a discussion going on who might be the best player over the age of thirty. Interesting, as well. My guess would be Zidane or Figo.

2 commentsWorld Cup Ranking a joke?
Today I had a little discussion with 2 of my friends who´s gonna make it this summer. One said Brazil and the other one Czech Republic, which actually might be not that bad of a pick. He was giving a few arguments therefore one of them was the World Cup Ranking. But, what the hell is wrong with that tableau? Brazil No. 1, of course. But what about Czech Republic being No. 2 in the world or even Netherlands No 3? And of course, sorry but USA is not the fourth best team in the world. This ranking is a joke.
And I just saw another one. Germany, the defending vice-champion, No. 19. Well done.

No commentsReferees´ wages doubled this World Cup
Did you know that a referee 2002 was getting 20.000$ for one month of work? Not that bad of a pay-cheque I guess. But this year´s getting even better the wages have been doubled to 40.000$. Wow. Of course that´s not that much compared to those figures that stars like Ronaldo & Co. see at their pay-cheques each month, but still.

No commentsI´m on my way to the World Cup
Don´t worry I´m not going to camp in front of the stadium up from today. I´m just very happy as my tickets for the World Cup finally arrived this afternoon. I was asking the nice postman if he knew what he was carrying around and he stated that the organisational comitee told them to be very careful with those packages. Anyway, I´m very very happy.
Again, I´m sorry for those who weren´t so lucky as I was. I´ll upload a few pictures in on of the following posts.

No commentsNetherland´s squad to be without Makaay
Netherland´s coach and former star-striker Marco van Baasten released his preliminary 33 man squad for the team. There are still 10 men to be cut and Roy Makaay isn´t even one of them even though he deserves a spot in my opinion. Well, here´s the squad. Read more
No commentsNo spot available for Scholl
According to Germany´s Coach Juergen Klinsmann there is no spot left for 35 year-old Mehmet Scholl. Klinsmann stated that he had been impressed by Scholl´s creative play lately but he isn´t that keen to bring someone in from outside his current 30 men squad.
We are delighted by Mehmet’s performances at Bayern over the last few weeks.
It´s a pitty. I remember Scholl being a great talent back in 1996 playing at the European Championships. But since then in the last ten years he got injured several times. A fall-back every time. He´s a great player but could have been even greater with a little more of somehting called luck.

No commentsHere are the World Cup Tickets

As promised yesterday, here are the tickets in their full brightness. I was so lucky getting three tickets (one for me, two for friends of mine). Although getting would be the wrong word they´re worth 100 euros each (ok worth even more). I´ll be watching Sweden vs. Paraguay on June 15th in Berlin. I´m really looking forward to the game as everyone else is to the whole World Cup, I guess.
